The Carnival 2010 will be held on Sunday September 19th at The Recreation Ground, Broomhall Lane, Sunningdale. Gates open at 11am to the public.
It’s the 34th year of this family event, that brings together the local villages in the area for a day of fun and entertainment for all ages. ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ is the theme for 2010 where some of the countries Phileas Fogg travelled through can be experienced through delicious food, cultural activities and fantastic entertainment.

On his epic journey, Phileas Fogg travelled through 6 countries by steam, rail or road. At the carnival there will be a dedicated area which will show a snapshot of the countries Phileas Fogg explored;

Carnival 2010
With such a varied theme touching on different countries and culture at the carnival this year there will be fantastic entertainment from each country.
This will include Bollywood and Chinese dances, belly dancing, martial arts, baton twirlers,Italian Opera and Song, a live jazz band and lots more.

A fabulous selection of food for you to choose from served up in the different parts of the world. In each country you will find delicious food including Indian, Chinese, Sushi, Steaks/Burgers and Italian. There will be plenty of choice this year so arrive early and sample it all.
Our Master of Ceremonies, Julian Hirst will be keeping everyone informed about the activities taking place during the afternoon, so listen out for what’s going on and enjoy the CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA
Cultural Sideshows and workshops.
These will take place in the individual countries throughout the day for everyone to join in with. So far we have belly dancing, Bollywood dancing, sushi demonstrations, origami. There will also be stalls selling cultural items such as Indian jewellery and Chinese pottery. You can even pamper yourself with Threading or try Henna tattoos, Please see the notice boards in the individual countries to check times for the various activities or sideshows & workshops.
Also around the grounds at the carnival there will be:

- An inflatable giant slide (back by popular demand!) – sponsored & run by Hamptons International
- Balloon Race – sponsored & run by Waitrose Sunningdale
- An Egyptian Dig
- Magic Martins childrens entertainer
- Have a go Dog Agility sessions thoughout the day

Over 50 stalls from local charities and organisations and a few commercial & farmers market stalls
Grand Raffle
For the first time in many years we have a GRAND RAFFLE
with truly fantastic prizes to be won, very kindly donated by a variety of local businesses and organisations.
Raffle tickets will be sold on the day at the carnival with the Grand Raffle Draw taking place at 4pm.

Carnival Donations
The carnival is organised by a team of volunteers and is a platform for all the charitable and not for profit organisations to raise money for their causes. All monies collected on the day through various activities organised by the committee and on the gate pay for the event. Although we aim to cover our costs, if we do make a profit the carnival fund is topped up for the following year and then any excess funds are donated to worthy local causes that do not have any other significant or reliable means of funding. The carnival committee consider all applications and decide which causes to help.
