The Jousting Tournament
Who will be crowned ‘Sir Lancelot’? Take up the challenge in this Jousting Tournament with a difference! Knights will face the dreaded ‘quintaine’ (a target that spins around on impact). The Knight who wins the most golden horseshoes will be crowned ‘Sir Lancelot’. Enter on the day – 16 years or over. Costumes supplied. Have YOU got what it takes ?

The Farandole
Andrew Godfrey is a traditional dance expert and helped organise the Maypole dancing at the carnival last year. He will be on hand again this year to teach us all the “Farandole” a medieval chain dance which looks spectacular with masses of people joining in, making arches and “threading the needle”. We will make a chain and meander through our own medieval village in the centre of the field.

Sunningdale Carnival

Welcome to the 33rd annual Sunningdale Carnival, bringing together all the villages in the area for a day of family fun & entertainment.

The 2009 Carnival will be held on Sunday the 13th of September. Gates will open at 11am.

A hint of 'medieval' for this year.

To help us get a feel for how life really was during those times we have invited the MEDIEVAL COMBAT SOCIETY to join us for a whole day of activities and entertainment.

The Medieval Combat Society (MCS) was originally formed in 1970, and is a medieval reenactment group. The object of the society is to have fun whilst entertaining the public and generating an interest in British history. The MCS is a member of the Early Medieval Alliance (EMA), and has over 60 members from all over the UK and all walks of life.
