2011 marks the 35th annual Sunningdale Area Carnival. Our theme this year is “Circus”. This allows lots of scope to dress up, to have fun and to enjoy our day together.
The celebrations will be taking place on Sunday 11 September from 11am at the Broomhall Recreation Ground, in Sunningdale.
We are of course hoping for a fine day with plenty of sunshine – as we have had in previous years.
We are excited to welcome “Sony & Rainbow” for the first time to the Carnival – with “Smokey the Fire Engine“. They will be providing entertainment for all the family in the main arena. 1
Circus Skills Workshops will also be a central part of the day – so we are hoping that at the end of the day, people will be able to demonstrate their newly learned skills for a fun filled finale!
The Carnival also welcomes “Topper the Clown” and “Jack the Copper”
Back by popular demand we also have Magic Martin the Carnival’s favourite traditional Punch & Judy – shows on throughout the day!.
There will be, what I am sure will prove to be, a most fabulous Children’s Fancy Dress Competition. I am also looking forward to the School’s Art Competition, which should prove to be a worthy showcase for local talent. If your school is not entering this competition, please ask your teachers why not!
Of course , the Giant Slide and the Victorian Children’s Carousel will be back to provide fun for the younger ones!
We are looking for many entries into the Schools Art Competition and hope that everyone will buy a ticket or two for the Grand Raffle (with adult and children’s prizes).
One important thing we have not forgotten is food, glorious food. There will be a hog roast and a burger stall, together with other delights from some of your favourite local restaurants – putting on a great spread at Broomhall Recreation Ground for all of us. Something for everyone. And our stalls will also be offering some food.
Sunningdale Area Carnival is an annual opportunity for stall-holders to have a platform in the village: to showcase what they do or sell, to make some money for their good causes and to make some new friends.
Proceeds from the Carnival each year are distributed to local charities to help them in their valuable work.
We are sure it’s going to be a wonderful and exciting day!
Please make a note of the date and join us on 11th September 2011.
